5 on 5 Sports Media is a Kansas City area sports broadcasting and digital content company launched in October 2025, initially to produce live television broadcasts of high school basketball.  Moving forward, we will be developing additional content that will provide recognition and promotion of high school student-athletes, coaches, administrators and other key contributors to high school sports.










 
Our founder, Rick Zych spent 41 years as an educator and coach including 29 years as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Bishop Miege, before retiring at the end of the 2022-23 school year.

Coach Zych accumulated over 700 wins including an undefeated season in 2010 (25-0).  His teams won 7 state titles and made 8 Final Four appearances.  He was a 4-time Paul Lambert Coach of the Year and is a member of the Kansas City Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. 

Zych served as a color analyst the past couple of seasons for Spectrum News broadcasts of high school basketball.
